Setting Up Servux on a Modded Server for Client Mod Compatibility

Before You Start

Servux is meant for multiplayer servers running modded environments where players use client-side mods that need server cooperation. It does not require anything from players beyond their normal client setup.

Setup Steps

1. Install Servux into your server's mods directory alongside your other server-side mods.

2. Start the server and watch the log for load errors. A clean start means it initialized correctly.

3. Have a player with a supported client mod join and test the relevant feature, such as a map filling in or an overlay appearing.

4. If the feature works, no further configuration is typically needed.

5. If it does not, check that the player's client mod is one Servux actually supports, and that both sides are on compatible mod versions.

Managing Expectations

Servux is a compatibility layer, not a content mod. It will not add blocks, items, or gameplay on its own. Its only job is to make certain client-side mods behave correctly on your server. Tell your players which client mods benefit so they know what to expect. If a player reports a broken feature, first confirm the mod is supported before troubleshooting further, since unsupported mods will never work through Servux regardless of settings.
