Server Country Flags Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Why are no flags showing up next to my servers?
The mod needs to resolve each server's IP to a country, which requires a working internet connection and a moment to look up. If flags never appear, check that the server address is a real hostname or IP rather than a local/LAN address, since local servers have no country to display.
How do I open the full-screen map with server locations?
Click the small globe button at the lower end of the server list screen. This opens a full-screen map showing where the selected server is hosted.
Where do I change the mod's settings?
Open the mod's config screen through the Cloth Config interface — on Forge via the Config button in the mod list, and on Fabric through the mod menu's config entry. From there you can toggle flags, distance display, and other options.
What does the distance number next to a server mean?
It's the approximate distance between your location and the server's host location. A shorter distance generally means lower latency, so it's a quick way to compare servers before joining.
Can I turn off the flags or the map button?
Yes. The Cloth Config settings screen lets you disable the flag icons and other display elements individually, so you can keep only the features you want.
Does this mod work on both Forge and Fabric?
Yes, the mod is available for both loaders, though the way you reach the config screen differs slightly between them. On Forge you use the mod list's Config button; on Fabric you use the mod menu.
Will this mod cause lag or lower my FPS?
The mod only does lightweight lookups when the server list loads, so it shouldn't affect in-game performance. Any brief delay happens on the server list screen, not during gameplay.
Do I need this mod on the server too, or just the client?
It's a client-side mod, so you only need it installed on your own game. The server doesn't need it, and other players won't see your flags.
The flag is wrong or missing for a server — why?
Flags are based on the server's IP geolocation, which can be inaccurate if the server uses a proxy, CDN, or hosting provider in another country. Some addresses also can't be resolved, in which case no flag is shown.
Can I see extra details about a server besides the flag?
Yes, the mod enriches the server list with additional information such as the host country and your approximate distance. Hovering or checking the entry gives you these details alongside the flag.
