Server Cosmetics Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I open the hat cosmetics menu?
Type /cm in chat to open the hat cosmetics GUI. From there you can browse and equip available hats on your server.
How do I equip a hat?
Open the hat cosmetics menu with /cm, select the hat you want, and click to equip it. Your character will immediately display the hat on their head.
Can I use item skins on any tool or weapon?
Item skins can be applied to tools and weapons that your server admin has configured cosmetics for. Open the item skins GUI with /is to see which items have available skins.
How do I apply an item skin to my tool?
Type /is to open the item skins GUI, select the skin you want, and apply it to your tool. The skin is purely visual and doesn't affect how the tool functions.
Do cosmetics disappear when I die?
Hats and item skins are cosmetic properties tied to your character and items, so they persist after death. However, this depends on your server's specific configuration.
Why can't I see other players' cosmetics?
Make sure the mod is installed on your client and that you're on a server running the Server Cosmetics Mod. Cosmetics only display if both the server and your client have the mod.
What do I do if cosmetics aren't showing after a server update?
Ask a server admin to run /sc reload to refresh all cosmetic configs. If you're the admin, this command reloads hats, item skins, and all related settings.
Can I remove a hat or item skin once I've equipped it?
Yes, open the cosmetics GUI (/cm for hats or /is for item skins) and select the option to unequip or remove the cosmetic.
Do cosmetics affect my game performance?
Server Cosmetics Mod is designed to be lightweight, but rendering many cosmetics on crowded servers may have minor performance impact depending on your hardware.
Can admins restrict which players can use cosmetics?
Yes, server admins can control cosmetic access through permissions in the mod's config files. Check with your server admin about which cosmetics you're allowed to use.
