Rename Players Locally Without Commands
Use Client-Side Player Nicknames
Change how player names appear on your screen without affecting what others see.
Steps
1. Open your mod settings and locate commandClientNick
2. Enable this feature
3. Use the command /clientnick <player_name> <new_nickname> in chat
4. The player's name will now display as your custom nickname on your client only
5. To remove a nickname, use /clientnick <player_name> reset or set it back to their original name
Use Cases
- Distinguish between players with similar names
- Create memorable labels for frequently-seen players
- Organize team members or friends with custom identifiers
- Make chat and name tags easier to read in crowded servers
Important Notes
- Changes are local to your client—other players see the original names
- Nicknames persist across sessions
- This doesn't affect the actual player data on the server
- Useful for long-term multiplayer worlds where you interact with the same players regularly
