Create Your First Dialogue Scene with Character Speech

Setting Up a Basic Dialogue

Dialogue in Scripted Realms is handled through your script file. Each character can speak directly in the world, appearing above their head or in a dialogue box depending on your setup.

1. Define your character in your script using the character declaration syntax

2. Write dialogue lines assigned to that character—the mod will display text when the scene plays

3. Position the character in your world using coordinates or by placing an NPC actor

4. Test the scene by triggering it through a clickable point or zone

Adding Pauses and Timing

Characters can speak multiple lines in sequence. Use timing commands in your script to control how long each line displays before the next one appears. This creates natural pacing for conversations.

You can also add camera focus to the speaking character so players watch them during dialogue. This keeps attention on the right NPC and makes scenes feel cinematic.

Playing Sounds

Pair dialogue with sound effects or ambient audio to enhance immersion. Trigger sounds at specific moments in your script to match character speech or emotional beats in your story.
