ScreenFX Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I open the ScreenFX settings menu?
Press the designated keybind (configurable in your controls settings) to open the ScreenFX overlay menu. From there, you can enable, disable, and customize any active screen effects.
Can I use ScreenFX with my resource pack?
Yes, ScreenFX is designed to be compatible with resource packs. However, if you experience visual conflicts, check that your overlay opacity and blend modes don't clash with pack textures—adjust these settings in the ScreenFX menu.
Why do my screen effects look different in caves vs. the surface?
ScreenFX effects respond to your current lighting conditions. You can create separate effect profiles for different environments or manually adjust brightness and color values when you change locations.
How do I layer multiple effects without them canceling each other out?
Enable multiple effects in the ScreenFX menu and adjust their opacity and blend modes individually so they blend together rather than overlap destructively. Start with lower opacity values and increase gradually.
My overlays are flickering—what's wrong?
Flickering usually occurs when effect settings conflict with each other or with your resource pack. Try disabling effects one at a time to identify the culprit, then adjust its opacity or blend mode.
Can I save and load different effect presets?
Yes, ScreenFX allows you to save your current configuration as a preset. You can then switch between saved presets to quickly apply different visual setups for different situations.
Does ScreenFX affect my FPS?
ScreenFX is a client-side mod with minimal performance impact on most systems, but using many effects at high opacity simultaneously may reduce FPS slightly—reduce the number of active effects or lower their intensity if needed.
How do I create a custom vignette?
Open the ScreenFX menu, select the vignette effect, and customize its color, fade distance, and opacity to match your preference. You can preview changes in real-time before saving.
Why do my effects disappear when I open GUIs?
By default, ScreenFX disables overlays when menus are open to avoid visual clutter. You can toggle this behavior in the mod settings if you prefer effects to remain visible.
Can I use ScreenFX on a multiplayer server?
Yes, ScreenFX is client-side only, so it works on any server without requiring the mod to be installed server-side. Your custom effects are personal and won't affect other players.
