Master the Double Jump for Vertical Exploration
Basic Double Jump Technique
The double jump lets you reach heights impossible with a single jump alone. To perform it:
1. Jump normally by pressing your jump key
2. While airborne, press and hold your sneak key (Shift by default)
3. Press jump again while still holding sneak
You'll launch upward a second time, gaining significant height. This is essential for reaching elevated platforms, cliff tops, and rooftops without building blocks.
Timing and Practice
The key to consistent double jumps is timing. Press jump too early after landing and you won't be airborne. Press it too late and you'll have already started falling too far to gain meaningful height.
Practice in a flat area first. Jump, count a brief moment, then press sneak and jump again. Once you develop the rhythm, you can chain double jumps across terrain by jumping immediately after landing from your previous double jump.
Combining with Sprinting
For maximum horizontal distance, sprint before your initial jump. The momentum carries through both jumps, letting you cross gaps that would normally require blocks or water bucket clutches.
