Sail Across Lava in the Nether

Use Fireproof Materials

Regular wood and wool will burn in lava. Instead, build your hull from fireproof blocks like obsidian, netherite, or nether-safe materials. Check block density ratings—obsidian and netherite are heavy (2.0 and 8.0 respectively), so use lighter fireproof blocks where possible to maintain buoyancy.

Equip Nether Sails

Attach nether sails (fireproof sail variants) to your mast instead of wool. These won't ignite when exposed to lava heat and provide the same speed benefits as standard sails.

Build on Lava

Position your completed hull floating on lava surface. Place your Ship Helm and assemble as normal. The mod's buoyancy system treats lava the same as water.

Navigate Safely

Pilot using W/A/S/D as usual. Lava lakes often have irregular shorelines, so use zoom to scout ahead. Avoid shallow lava areas where your heavy hull might touch the bottom and stick.
