Navigate Ice and Frozen Oceans
Prepare Your Bow
Your ship needs a reinforced front to break through ice. Place two iron blocks at the very front of your bow, positioned side-by-side. Iron blocks have high density (8.0), so ensure your hull has enough buoyancy to support them without sinking.
Test Ice Breaking
Pilot your ship toward a frozen ocean or ice lake. The two iron blocks will cut through ice at half normal speed, creating a navigable channel behind you.
Maintain Speed
Because ice-breaking reduces your velocity, use longer sails or more wool blocks to compensate. Cruise control (R key) helps maintain steady forward momentum through ice fields.
Plan Your Route
Ice-breaking is slow, so scout ahead for open water routes when possible. Use your ship's camera zoom (Page Up/Page Down) to spot clearer passages before committing to ice navigation.
