Build and Fly an Airship

Create the Gondola

Build a small, lightweight platform from low-density blocks like wool (0.1) or wooden slabs (0.17). This becomes your airship's cabin and control center. Keep it compact—airships need less deck space than water ships.

Add Lift with Campfires

Place campfire blocks beneath your gondola. Each campfire generates upward lift. The number of campfires determines your maximum altitude and lifting capacity. Arrange them in a grid pattern under the gondola for balanced flight.

Install a Ghast Drive

Attach a ghast drive (powered propulsion system) to your airship. This provides forward thrust and directional control. Place your Ship Helm on the gondola and assemble.

Pilot Your Airship

Right-click the helm to take control. Use W/A/S/D to move horizontally. Press Space to climb and Left Control to descend. The campfires' lift and the ghast drive's thrust work together—more campfires mean higher altitude potential. Use Page Up/Page Down to zoom your view for navigation.
