How to Search for Items and Filter by Mod in Roughly Enough Items

Using the Search Bar

When you open your inventory, the REI item list appears on the right side of the screen. Click the search bar at the top of that list (or press the keybind that focuses it) and start typing an item name. The list filters live as you type, so you do not need to press Enter. To clear the search, click the small button inside the search bar or select all and delete the text.

Filtering by Mod, Tag, or Tooltip

REI's search supports prefixes that narrow results. Type @ followed by a mod name to show only items from that mod. Type # followed by a tag to show items belonging to that tag. You can also search tooltip text directly, which is useful when you remember a description but not the item name. Combine prefixes with normal words to get very specific results, for example a mod prefix plus a partial item name.

Handy Tips

  • Search is not case sensitive, so capitalization does not matter.
  • If the list looks empty, check that you have not left a prefix like @ with no mod name after it.
  • Use the config menu to change how search behaves if the default mode is not matching what you expect.
  • Bookmark items you search for often so you can skip typing next time.
