Roughly Enough Items Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

how do I open the REI item list?
The item list appears on the right side of your inventory and most container screens by default. If you don't see it, check your keybinds for the REI toggle key and make sure the overlay isn't hidden in settings.
what key opens the REI config menu?
There's a settings button in the REI interface, usually near the search bar or bottom of the item list. You can also bind a key to open the config directly in your controls menu.
how do I search for an item in REI?
Click the search bar at the top of the item list and start typing the item name. You can also just start typing while hovering over the list, and REI will filter items as you go.
how do I see the recipe for an item?
Hover over the item and press the recipe key (default is R). The recipe screen will show every way that item can be crafted.
how do I see what an item is used for?
Hover over the item and press the uses key (default is U). This shows every recipe the item appears in as an ingredient.
how do I bookmark an item in REI?
Hover over the item and press the bookmark key (default is A). Bookmarked items appear in a dedicated section so you can find them quickly later.
how do I turn on cheat mode in REI?
Open the REI config menu and enable cheat mode, or click the cheat mode button in the interface. Once enabled, you can grab items directly from the list into your inventory.
why is my REI item list so cluttered?
You likely have many mods installed, so the list shows everything. Use the config to hide items by mod, tag, or category, and use the search filters to narrow things down.
does REI work with Just Enough Items plugins?
Yes, REI supports many plugins originally made for JEI, so recipes from mods that rely on JEI plugins usually show up correctly. If a specific plugin doesn't work, check for an REI-compatible version.
does REI cause lag or performance issues?
REI is generally lightweight, but a very large item list from many mods can slow down rendering. You can reduce this by hiding unused items or disabling certain display options in the config.
