How to Configure REI Settings and Hide Cluttered Items

Opening the Config Menu

Click the settings button next to the REI search bar to open the configuration menu. From here you can change interface behavior, toggle features, and adjust how the item list is displayed. Changes usually apply immediately, so you can preview them without restarting.

Reducing Item List Clutter

Large modpacks flood the item list with blocks and items you rarely need. Use the config options to hide items you do not want to see. You can typically hide individual items by hovering them and using a hide keybind, and you can manage the hidden list from the config menu. This keeps the list short and makes searching faster.

Useful Settings to Check

  • Toggle whether the item list appears on the left or right side of the screen.
  • Adjust the size or scale of the item grid if it feels too small or too large.
  • Enable or disable cheat mode from here rather than hunting for a separate button.
  • Control whether bookmarks and the search bar are always visible.

Exporting Recipes

REI includes a keybind for exporting recipe data, which is handy if you want to share or document recipes outside the game. Bind it in your controls menu, then press it while viewing a recipe to write the data out.

When Settings Do Not Stick

If your changes reset, make sure you are editing the correct config profile and that the game is saving settings on exit.
