rotrBLOCKS Resource Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
What does rotrBLOCKS actually change in my world?
It's a resource pack that adds PBR and POM detail to vanilla-style textures, giving blocks more surface depth, indentation, and smoother transitions between adjacent blocks. Nothing about world generation or gameplay changes, only how blocks look.
Why does rotrBLOCKS look flat and boring after I installed it?
PBR and POM are not enabled by default in most clients, so the pack falls back to plain textures. You need to turn on the parallax/POM and PBR options in your client's video or shader settings for the depth to appear.
Do I need a shader for rotrBLOCKS to work?
You need a shader or client that supports PBR and parallax occlusion mapping, otherwise you only get the higher-detail base textures. Without that support, the pack still loads but the 3D depth effect won't show.
How do I get the depth effect on blocks like stone and bricks?
Enable POM (parallax occlusion mapping) in your shader settings and make sure the pack's normal and height maps are being read. The depth only appears on blocks that have those maps, so plain-colored blocks will stay flat.
Why do the transitions between blocks look wrong or mismatched?
Transition blending depends on your shader's connected textures or transition options being enabled alongside the pack. If a shader ignores those maps, you'll see hard seams instead of the smooth blending the pack is designed for.
My textures look blurry or grainy with rotrBLOCKS, what's wrong?
This usually comes from mipmapping, anisotropic filtering, or a shader's sharpening settings fighting the pack's detail maps. Try adjusting those settings and check that your resolution matches the pack's intended detail level.
RotrBLOCKS is tanking my FPS, how do I fix it?
POM and high-detail PBR are the main cost, so lowering parallax depth, reducing shadow resolution, or disabling POM on distant blocks helps most. Turning off POM entirely keeps the PBR look while recovering a lot of performance.
Does rotrBLOCKS work with other resource packs?
It only works cleanly if it's placed above other packs in your resource pack list, since it needs to override vanilla textures. Mixing it with other PBR packs usually causes conflicting normal or height maps.
Is rotrBLOCKS compatible with mods that add new blocks?
Modded blocks only get the PBR/POM treatment if the pack includes textures for them, which it generally doesn't since it targets vanilla. Modded blocks will render with their own textures and won't match the pack's style.
Can I use rotrBLOCKS on a server or with friends?
Yes, it's client-side only, so you can use it on any server without others needing it. Other players just won't see the extra depth unless they also have the pack and a compatible shader.
