Roguelike Tower Data Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I find a Roguelike Tower?
Travel through forest biomes and look for a tall stone brick structure. Towers generate naturally in forest biomes, so exploring multiple forests increases your chances of finding one. Once you spot the tower, you can enter through the ground floor entrance.
What's the difference between monster spawners and loot barrels?
Each encounter spot on a floor has a 60% chance to be a monster spawner (spawning hostile mobs) and a 40% chance to be a loot barrel (containing rewards). You need to defeat spawned mobs to safely access nearby loot barrels.
Can I predict what enemies will spawn in a tower?
No—the tower pulls from 10 different Overworld hostile mob types randomly, so each run has an unpredictable enemy mix. This randomness is intentional and keeps every tower run feeling fresh.
What kind of loot can I get from the barrels?
Loot barrels pull from 11 distinct reward tables, so you'll find different items each time. The exact rewards depend on which loot table is assigned to each barrel.
How many floors does a tower have?
Towers have 11 floors total: 10 interior floors filled with encounters, plus an open-air roof level at the top. You climb through all of them by using stairs between floors.
Do I have to fight every spawner to progress?
You don't have to fight every spawner, but spawned mobs can block your path or damage you as you move through floors. Clearing spawners strategically helps you reach loot barrels and stairs more safely.
Can I farm the same tower multiple times?
Yes, you can re-enter a tower and run it again, but the encounters and loot will be the same as your previous run. For different layouts and rewards, you need to find or generate a new tower in a different forest location.
What should I bring before entering a tower?
Bring combat gear to handle multiple hostile mobs, healing items to survive encounters, and tools to break open loot barrels. Having a ranged weapon helps deal with spawners from a distance.
Why am I taking damage from mobs I didn't see?
Monster spawners can spawn mobs anywhere on their floor, including behind you or around corners. Always stay alert and listen for mob sounds as you climb, and consider clearing spawners before moving deeper into a floor.
Does this mod work with other mods or datapacks?
This is a data pack, so it works within vanilla Minecraft and is generally compatible with other data packs and mods that don't conflict with world generation. Test it in a new world to ensure stability with your other installed content.
