Riveria NPC Model FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need both ModelEngine and MythicMobs for this mod to work?
Yes, both plugins are required. ModelEngine handles the 3D character models and animations, while MythicMobs spawns and controls the NPC behavior. The mod won't function without either one.
How do I spawn an NPC at a specific location?
Stand where you want the NPC to appear and run `/mm m s [npc_name]` (for example, `/mm m s flora_npc`). The NPC will spawn at your feet facing the direction you're looking.
Can I make an NPC stay in one spot or do they wander?
You can control this in the YAML configuration file for each NPC. Edit the idle behavior settings to make them stationary, patrol a set path, or wander freely within a defined area.
What happens if I want to change what an NPC says or sells?
Open the NPC's YAML file in the MythicMobs folder and edit the dialogue and shop sections. After saving, run `/mythicmobs reload` to apply the changes without restarting the server.
Can I add more than five NPCs or duplicate one of the existing ones?
Yes, you can duplicate and rename the YAML files for any NPC you want to create multiple copies of. Each file can be customized separately with different names, dialogue, and behaviors.
Do these NPCs work with quest plugins or custom quest systems?
The mod provides quest hook support in the YAML configuration, allowing you to integrate with quest plugins. You'll need to configure the hooks manually to connect NPC interactions to your specific quest system.
Will this mod cause lag on my server?
The mod is designed to be lightweight, but performance depends on how many NPCs you spawn and your server's resources. Spawning dozens of NPCs in one area may impact performance; spread them out or use fewer instances if you notice issues.
Can players interact with NPCs or are they just decorative?
NPCs are fully interactive—players can trigger dialogue, access shops, and receive quests through right-click interactions configured in the YAML files. They're not just decorative.
What do I do if an NPC stops animating or looks frozen?
Run `/modelengine reload` to refresh the animation system, or `/mythicmobs reload` to reload the NPC configuration. If the issue persists, check that the ModelEngine blueprints folder contains all the required animation files.
Can I use these NPCs in a non-fantasy or non-medieval server?
The NPCs are designed with a medieval theme, but you can customize their names, dialogue, and behavior in the YAML files to fit any server style. The character models themselves are fixed, so visual appearance won't change.
