How to Use Riptide for Vertical Travel

Basic Vertical Movement

Riptide allows you to launch yourself upward without needing water or rain. Equip a trident with the Riptide enchantment and look upward at an angle. Throw the trident by using it (right-click). You'll be propelled in the direction the trident travels, allowing you to gain significant height quickly.

Controlling Your Flight Path

Aim your throw carefully—the angle and direction you're facing when you throw determines where you'll go. For maximum height, aim nearly straight up. For horizontal distance, throw at a shallower angle. You can throw multiple times in succession to chain movements together and reach very high altitudes.

Landing Safely

After launching, you'll eventually fall. Plan your trajectory to land on solid ground or water. Keep blocks or terrain in mind as you ascend. If you're climbing a tall structure, throw upward along its side to reach the top without needing scaffolding or ladders.
