Enable Half-Resolution Rendering on macOS

Check Your Display Type

retiNO Mod only activates on Retina displays. If you're playing on a Mac with a Retina screen (most modern MacBooks and iMacs have them), the mod will automatically engage when you launch Minecraft.

Verify the Mod is Working

Once installed, launch Minecraft normally. The mod operates silently in the background—there's no menu or toggle to switch on. Your game will render at half the native resolution of your Retina display, which means:

  • Sharper performance without noticeable visual loss
  • Reduced strain on your GPU
  • Longer play sessions without thermal throttling

If you don't notice a performance improvement, double-check that your Mac actually has a Retina display. Non-Retina displays won't trigger the mod's effects.

Troubleshooting

If the mod isn't working, ensure it's properly installed in your mods folder. The mod requires no configuration—it simply detects your display type and adjusts rendering accordingly. If you're on a non-macOS platform, the mod will load but won't affect rendering; consider Resolution Control Mod as an alternative.
