Replay Voice Chat Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I start recording voice chat in a replay?
Just start a ReplayMod recording as you normally would while Simple Voice Chat is active — the mod hooks in automatically, so there's no separate record button. Your voice and other players' audio get captured alongside the replay.
Do I need to enable anything for voice chat to be recorded?
No manual toggle is needed; recording is automatic once the mod is installed and Simple Voice Chat is running. If you hear nothing in the replay, check that voice chat was actually active during the recording session.
Why can't I hear voice chat in my replay?
The most common causes are that Simple Voice Chat wasn't loaded during recording, or the replay was recorded before the mod was installed. Also make sure you're playing back the replay with the mod present, since audio is stored separately from the replay file.
How do I render a replay with separate voice chat audio tracks?
Open the render dialog in ReplayMod and the mod will export each audio source as its own track instead of mixing them together. You then get individual files for locational audio, group audio, and your own voice to edit in a video editor.
Can I get my own voice as a separate track when rendering?
Yes — your own microphone audio is exported as its own track, separate from other players' audio. This makes it easy to mute, boost, or edit your commentary independently.
Does the mod record locational audio differently from group audio?
Yes, it captures both. Locational audio reflects where players are in the world, while group audio comes through the voice chat group channel, and they're kept as distinct sources so they render separately.
How do I speed up or slow down a replay and keep the voice chat audio in sync?
Use ReplayMod's replay speed controls as usual; the mod adjusts the voice chat audio to match the new playback speed. The audio stays aligned with the video so it doesn't drift out of sync.
Will speeding up a replay make the voice chat sound chipmunked?
The mod time-stretches the audio to follow the replay speed rather than simply pitching it up. The result is that voices stay intelligible instead of sounding like a fast-forwarded tape.
Why are player icons missing from my replay?
Player icons are captured from Simple Voice Chat's API during recording, so they only appear if voice chat was active and the mod was installed at that time. Replays recorded without the mod won't have icons baked in.
Does this mod work with other voice chat mods or only Simple Voice Chat?
It's built around the Simple Voice Chat Plugin API, so it relies on Simple Voice Chat being present. Other voice chat mods that don't expose that API won't be captured.
