Fixing Chunk Unload Crashes and Errors in Refined Storage
The Problem
Refined Storage networks that span multiple chunks can throw errors or crash the server when a chunk unloads. This usually happens when you walk away from your base, or when a chunk with part of your network gets unloaded by the server. The network tries to update a block that no longer exists in memory, and the game errors out.
The Mixin Mod includes a fix specifically for this: unloaded chunk skipping. When a chunk is not loaded, the mod tells the network to ignore those blocks instead of trying to update them.
Steps
1. Make sure the mod is installed on both client and server if you play multiplayer. Chunk unload errors are server-side, so the server must have it.
2. No config change is needed for the chunk fix. It is on by default.
3. If you still see errors in your log, check whether another add-on is also touching Refined Storage block updates. Two mods doing the same job can conflict.
4. If you use EnderIO conduits alongside Refined Storage, the mod also fixes wire connection bugs that appear when chunks unload. Keep both mods updated.
Verifying the Fix
Walk far enough from your base that the chunks unload, then come back. Your network should reconnect cleanly with no errors in the log and no missing items.
