Refined Storage Mixin Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I know the mixin mod is actually working?
Check your mod list — it should show as loaded alongside Refined Storage. Then watch your server tick time or MSPT while a large network is running; if the numbers drop compared to before, the mixin is doing its job.
Do I need to change any config settings or does it work out of the box?
It works with default settings as soon as it loads. The config is only there if you want to tune update speeds or lazy energy behavior for your specific setup.
What does idle sleeping actually do to my machines?
Machine parts that aren't doing anything get put into a sleeping state so they stop ticking every game tick. As soon as they have work to do, they wake up and resume normally.
Will idle sleeping break my autocrafting or importers?
No. Active importers and crafters keep moving items at full speed — only parts with nothing to do go to sleep. If a machine has a job, it stays awake.
What is lazy energy and will it mess up my power usage?
Lazy energy changes how often the game recalculates power consumption instead of doing it constantly. Your network still uses the same energy overall, it's just counted less frequently to save performance.
Why am I still getting lag with a huge storage system?
The mixin reduces update overhead but can't fix everything — check for other causes like too many active crafters, huge numbers of importers running at once, or other mods adding their own tick load. You can also lower update speeds in the config to squeeze out more performance.
Does this fix the crash when chunks unload?
Yes, that's one of its main fixes. It stops the errors that happen when map chunks with Refined Storage parts unload, which is a common crash source in big bases.
Is it compatible with EnderIO conduits?
Yes, it specifically fixes wire connection bugs that occur when Refined Storage and EnderIO conduits are used together. You don't need to do anything special — just have both mods installed.
Can I use this with other Refined Storage add-ons?
Generally yes, since it only changes how parts update rather than adding or removing content. If another add-on also overrides the same update behavior, you may need to test and adjust config settings.
What does unloaded chunk skipping do and is it safe?
It tells the mod to ignore Refined Storage parts in chunks that aren't currently loaded, so the game doesn't waste time ticking them. It's safe — when the chunk loads again, everything resumes normally.
