Troubleshoot Chains That Won't Reconnect

Diagnosing Reconnection Issues

While Reconnectible Chains Mod handles most situations automatically, certain configurations may prevent proper reconnection. Understanding these limits helps you design better structures.

Common Causes and Solutions

No nearby blocks available: Chains can only reconnect to solid blocks within a certain range. If you've removed all anchor points in an area, chains have nowhere to attach. Solution: Place new solid blocks near disconnected chains.

Blocks are too far apart: Chains won't stretch indefinitely to find new anchors. If your anchor points are spaced too far apart, chains may not reconnect. Solution: Add intermediate support blocks.

Incompatible block types: Some blocks may not serve as valid reconnection points. Stick with standard solid blocks (wood, stone, metal variants) for reliable attachment.

Chain orientation matters: Chains attach to specific faces of blocks. Ensure your anchor blocks are positioned so their surfaces face the chains.

Testing Your Setup

Break blocks systematically and observe where chains reattach. This reveals your structure's reconnection range and helps you identify weak points before they cause problems in active builds.
