Animate NPCs with Custom Idle and Wave Sequences

Access Animation Settings

Realms NPCs come with built-in idle stances and wave animations. These play automatically when the NPC is spawned, but you can customize their behavior through ModelEngine configuration.

Configure Animation Playback

1. In your NPC's configuration file, locate the animation section.

2. Set the idle animation to loop continuously—this is the default standing pose for each character.

3. Enable the wave animation to trigger on player interaction or at set intervals.

4. Adjust animation speed if your plugin supports it; slower speeds create more dramatic gestures.

Test Animation Behavior

1. Spawn your configured NPC in a test area.

2. Observe the idle stance—each character (Knight, King, Tavern Keeper, Jester, Enchantress) has a unique pose.

3. Approach the NPC to trigger the wave animation.

4. If animations don't play, verify ModelEngine is running and the model ID matches exactly.

Animation timing is handled by ModelEngine automatically, so no frame-by-frame setup is needed.
