Realm Tint AFK Plugin FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I know if the plugin is working after I install it?
Join your server and look at the player list or send a message in chat—player names should appear colored based on their current dimension (green for Overworld, red for Nether, purple for The End). If you don't see colors, check that the plugin is enabled in your server configuration.
Can I change the colors for each dimension?
Yes, the plugin supports custom color settings. See the guide "Set Up Custom Colors for Your Server's Dimensions" for instructions on editing the configuration file to assign your own colors to any dimension.
What counts as AFK and how long does it take to be marked away?
The plugin detects inactivity automatically—when a player stops moving or interacting for a set period, their name turns gray in the player list and chat. You can adjust the inactivity timer or disable auto-detection entirely in the configuration.
Can players manually toggle their away status without waiting?
Yes, players can use a command (typically `/afk` or similar) to manually mark themselves as away or return to active status, which immediately updates their name color.
Does this plugin work with custom dimensions or modded worlds?
The plugin works with custom dimensions, but you'll need to add color settings for them in the configuration file. See "Set Up Custom Colors for Your Server's Dimensions" for details.
I only want chat colored, not the player list. Can I turn off one or the other?
Yes, you can disable chat coloring or player list coloring independently through the configuration. Check the guide "Disable Chat or Player List Coloring Independently" for step-by-step instructions.
Why aren't player names showing colors in chat or the player list?
This usually happens if the plugin isn't loaded, colors aren't configured for that dimension, or chat/player list coloring is disabled in settings. See "Troubleshoot Color Display Issues Across Dimensions" for a full checklist.
Does this plugin affect server performance or TPS?
No, the plugin is lightweight and only updates colors when players change dimensions or their activity status changes, so it has minimal impact on server performance.
What happens to a player's color when they travel between dimensions?
Their name color updates instantly in both the player list and chat to reflect their new dimension, so everyone sees where they went right away.
Can I see which players are away at a glance?
Yes, all away players appear with the same distinct color (gray by default) in the player list and chat, making it easy to spot who's taking a break.
