RealisticRemake Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on the shader after installing it?
Open your Options menu in-game, go to Video Settings, then select Shaders. Find RealisticRemake in the list and click it to activate. You'll see the changes take effect immediately in your world.
Why are my god rays not showing up?
God rays only appear during daytime when the sun is visible and shining through clouds or trees. If you're underground or it's nighttime, they won't render. Make sure you're looking toward the sky during the day to see them clearly.
The mist is too thick and I can't see far. How do I fix this?
Go to the shader settings (usually accessible by pressing a key like Shift+R or through the Shaders menu) and look for fog or mist intensity options. Reduce the value to improve visibility while keeping the atmospheric effect.
Can I use this shader with other mods?
RealisticRemake works with most mods, but performance mods and other shaders can conflict. Avoid running multiple shaders at once, and test with your other mods to ensure compatibility.
My FPS dropped a lot after installing this. What should I do?
Try disabling god rays or reducing their intensity first, as they're one of the more demanding features. You can also lower mist density or disable leaf swaying in the shader settings to improve performance.
Are the leaves supposed to move all the time?
Yes, leaves and plants sway gently in the wind by default to create a living world feel. If you find this distracting or want better performance, you can disable leaf swaying in the shader options.
Why do shadows look weird or blocky under my character?
Ground shadows are intentionally soft and subtle to maintain the vanilla look while adding depth. If they seem too harsh or too faint, adjust the shadow softness slider in the shader settings to your preference.
Does this shader work in the Nether or End?
Yes, the shader applies to all dimensions, though god rays and mist will look different depending on the environment. The Nether's unique lighting and the End's void create their own atmospheric effects with the shader enabled.
Can I adjust individual features separately or is it all-or-nothing?
You can customize most features individually through the shader settings menu—god rays, mist, shadows, and leaf swaying all have their own toggles and intensity sliders.
Will this shader affect my world's performance in multiplayer servers?
Shaders only affect your client-side rendering, so they won't impact server performance or other players. However, your own FPS depends on your graphics card, so test it on your hardware first.
