Understand Shockwave Physics and Blast Zones

How Shockwaves Behave

The mod creates two distinct shockwave types: an expanding air-pressure dome that travels outward and a ground-level shockwave that kicks up dust and debris. Both originate from the explosion center and scale based on total explosive yield. Larger charges produce wider, more powerful shockwaves that travel farther and affect terrain at greater distances.

Block Launching and Debris

Loose blocks caught in the blast zone break and launch as dangerous flying shrapnel based on their distance from the epicenter, their mass, and the blast strength. Heavy blocks launch slower but travel farther; light blocks scatter rapidly. This debris damages players, mobs, and structures in its path.

Distance-Based Effects

Blast damage, knockback, and temporary hearing loss all decrease with distance from the explosion. Fires spread across flammable surfaces in the blast zone. Sound delays realistically—distant players see the explosion before hearing it. Plan your demolition zones with these physics in mind to predict debris patterns and protect nearby areas.
