Test How Different Blocks Reflect and Transmit Light
Locate the Material Showcase Areas
The map includes dedicated zones where common building blocks are arranged to demonstrate light behavior. Walk to areas featuring walls, floors, and decorative blocks in isolation and in combination.
Observe Reflection Behavior
Stand near colored light sources and watch how light bounces off different surfaces:
- Smooth blocks (polished stone, dark oak wood): Notice how light reflects sharply and creates defined shadows.
- Rough blocks (cobblestone, gravel): See how light scatters more diffusely, creating softer reflections.
- Metallic blocks: Check if your shader renders these with realistic specular highlights.
Test Transparency and Refraction
Move through glass corridors and observe how light passes through. Look for color bleeding where light travels through tinted glass or colored water. Note whether your shader simulates refraction (bending of light) or simply shows transparency.
Compare Side by Side
Many test rooms place similar blocks under different lighting conditions. Use these comparisons to understand how your shader interprets material properties and whether adjustments to shader settings improve realism for your preferred aesthetic.
