Diagnose Visual Glitches in Your Ray Tracing Setup
Identify Common Glitch Locations
The map's clean, controlled environment makes glitches obvious. Walk slowly through each room and watch for:
- Flickering shadows: Rapid on-off shadow behavior, often caused by shader or driver issues.
- Light leaking: Colored light appearing where it shouldn't, suggesting incorrect light propagation.
- Texture artifacts: Blocks appearing overly bright, dark, or with strange color shifts.
- Reflection errors: Mirrors or reflective surfaces showing incorrect or missing reflections.
Isolate the Problem
When you spot a glitch, stand still and take a screenshot. Note which blocks or light sources are involved. Try adjusting a single shader setting (like shadow distance or bounce count) and return to the same spot to see if the issue changes. This narrows down whether the problem is a shader setting, driver bug, or hardware limitation.
Test Across Rooms
If a glitch appears in one room but not others, it may be specific to certain block types or lighting setups. Document which combinations trigger the issue. This information helps you decide whether to adjust settings, update drivers, or report the problem to the shader developer.
