Compare Shader Performance Across Test Rooms
Set Up Your Performance Baseline
Before testing, open your F3 debug screen to monitor frame rate in real time. Load into the world and stand in the central hub area—this is your baseline. Note your FPS with your current shader or RTX pack active.
Walk Through Each Specialized Room
The map contains distinct test chambers designed to stress different rendering features:
- Glass and transparency zones: Walk through areas with layered glass blocks. Watch how your shader handles light passing through multiple transparent surfaces and reflections bouncing between panes.
- Shadow-heavy rooms: Enter enclosed spaces with point light sources. Observe shadow quality and whether frame rate drops significantly.
- Colored light chambers: Move through rooms lit by colored light sources (reds, blues, greens). Check if your shader accurately reflects colored light onto nearby surfaces.
- Open areas: Compare performance in unobstructed spaces versus cluttered zones.
Document Your Findings
Take screenshots at each location and note your FPS. This helps you identify which lighting features impact your performance most. Use this data to adjust shader settings—lower reflection quality or shadow distance if needed, or increase them if your system handles the load well.
