Questlog Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I start making quests?
Type /ql edit_mode in chat to open the editor menu, then use the built-in presets to create your first quest quickly. Once you're comfortable, you can write custom JSON files and place them in your questlog folder for more control.
Where do I put my custom quest files?
Save your JSON quest files in the questlog folder located in your game directory. The mod will automatically load any valid quest files you place there.
Can I make quests with multiple stages or steps?
Yes—the mod supports multi-stage quest chains where players must complete objectives in sequence. Check the guide "Build a Multi-Stage Quest Chain" for detailed instructions on structuring these.
How do I customize how quest notifications look?
Questlog Mod uses standard Minecraft resource packs to customize menus and alert appearance. You can modify textures and colors by editing the appropriate resource pack files.
What happens when a player completes a quest?
A notification badge pops up on screen and appears in the inventory menu, letting the player know they've unlocked something new. The quest is then marked as complete in their quest log.
Can multiple players use the same quest file on a server?
Yes, quest files are stored as JSON in your game folder and can be shared across players on a server. Each player's progress is tracked separately in their own quest log.
Do I need to restart my world to add new quests?
No—you can add new quest files to your questlog folder and they'll load without restarting. Use /ql edit_mode to test new quests in real-time.
What's the difference between edit_mode and playing normally?
Edit_mode opens the menu for creating and testing your own tasks, while normal play lets you complete quests that have already been set up. You can switch between modes using the command.
Can I track multiple quests at the same time?
Yes—the quest log displays all active quests in a simple checklist format, and you can work on multiple objectives simultaneously. See "Track Multiple Quests in Your Quest Log" for details.
Will this mod slow down my game?
Questlog Mod is designed to be lightweight since it only stores data in simple JSON files and displays information through your inventory menu. Performance impact should be minimal on most systems.
