Use Name Tag Overlays to Check PVP Status
Reading the Name Tag Overlay
Every player has a name tag overlay that displays their current PVP status. This visual indicator helps you quickly determine whether another player can be engaged in combat.
What the Overlay Shows
The name tag will indicate:
- Flagged: The player is ready for PVP combat
- Unflagged: The player has PVP disabled and cannot be damaged
- Unflagging: The player has requested to disable PVP and is waiting for the timer to complete
Using This Information
Before initiating combat, glance at the player's name tag to confirm they're flagged. If they're unflagged or unflagging, you cannot damage them—attempting to attack will have no effect. This prevents wasted effort and helps you identify safe players in shared spaces.
Team Compatibility
If your server uses Minecraft teams, the overlay integrates with team settings, so you may see additional team-related information alongside PVP status.
