Hear Muffled Voices Through Walls
How Voice Muffling Works
When another player speaks from behind solid blocks, their voice reaches you muffled and quieter—just like real sound physics. Thick walls of stone, dirt, or wood will muffle voices more than thin barriers. The mod calculates how many blocks separate you from the speaker and applies realistic audio dampening.
Testing Muffled Audio
1. Have a friend stand on the opposite side of a thick wall or door
2. Ask them to speak into their microphone
3. Listen to how their voice sounds dampened compared to when they're in the same room
4. Try different wall materials—stone muffles differently than wood
5. Test with multiple layers of blocks to hear progressive muffling
Practical Applications
This feature makes voice chat more immersive during multiplayer gameplay. If you're mining behind a wall while your friend is outside, communication feels natural and realistic. You can also use this mechanic strategically—if you need privacy during a call, standing behind blocks will make your voice harder for distant players to hear clearly. Adjust your microphone proximity settings if muffling feels too extreme for your playstyle.
