Understanding Hand and Item Physics in First-Person View
How Visible Hands Work
When you hold any item or weapon, Punchy FPA renders your hands directly in your first-person view. This replaces the default flat item icon and gives you a full 3D perspective of what you're carrying. Your hands will appear naturally positioned based on what item you're holding.
Physics and Movement
Your held items don't stay perfectly still—they respond to your movement:
- Walking and running: Items sway and bounce with your stride, creating momentum
- Jumping: Held items react to the jump motion with realistic inertia
- Sprinting: Faster movement causes more pronounced swaying
- Standing still: Items settle into a resting position
This physics system applies to all holdable items: weapons, tools, lanterns, fishing rods, and more. The effect is most noticeable with larger items like axes or crossbows.
Inspecting Items
You can rotate and examine items held in your hands using the inspection animation. This lets you see fine details of your tools and weapons up close without dropping them.
