Troubleshooting: Pumpkillager Not Spawning When You Break Pumpkins

Confirm You Are Breaking Real Pumpkins

The encounter only fires when you break a pumpkin block. Carved pumpkins, jack o'lanterns, pumpkin pie, and pumpkin seeds do not count. Make sure you are harvesting the plain orange pumpkin block itself, grown from seeds or found naturally. If you are only crafting or eating pumpkin products, nothing will trigger.

It Is Random, So Streaks Happen

The chance is rolled per pumpkin broken, so it is entirely possible to break many pumpkins in a row with no encounter. This is not a bug. The fix is volume: build a larger farm, harvest more often, and keep breaking. Do not assume the mod is broken after a short dry spell.

Check the Basics

If you have broken a large number of pumpkins with zero encounters, verify the mod is actually loaded and enabled for your world, and that you are in a world where it was present from the start or properly added. Also make sure you are not in a mode or dimension where the trigger is suppressed. If encounters worked before and stopped, you may have already advanced past that stage of the quest — later steps may require different actions rather than more pumpkin breaking.
