Protection Engineering Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I craft the basic engineer armor pieces?
Engineer armor is crafted at the Modification Table using Create's mechanical crafting system. You'll need to gather the required materials and place them in the table along with the appropriate crafting recipe—check the Modification Table's interface to see what each piece requires.
What powers my armor and how do I charge it?
Your armor runs on mechanical energy that must be supplied through Create's power network. Connect your armor to a power source (like a hand crank, water wheel, or other Create generators) via the Modification Table, and energy will flow into your equipped gear.
Why aren't my attachments working even though they're installed?
Attachments need both power and to be toggled on—check your HUD display for the gray circle icon, which means that attachment is disabled. Click or use your keybind to activate it, and make sure your armor has enough stored energy to run it.
Can I use Protection Engineering armor with other mods?
Protection Engineering is designed as an addon for Create, so it works best within that ecosystem. Compatibility with other mods depends on whether they conflict with Create's systems or armor slots—most mods that don't touch Create or armor should coexist fine.
How do I know which attachments go in which armor slot?
Each armor piece has dedicated attachment slots listed in the Modification Table interface—helmets take eye/mouth/head modules, chestplates take back/shoulder/arm attachments, leggings take leg upgrades, and boots take sole attachments. Try placing an attachment and the table will tell you if it's incompatible.
What's the difference between the three jetpack tiers?
Higher-tier jetpacks consume more power but provide better flight speed and control. The progression lets you choose between fuel efficiency for longer flights or raw performance for faster travel.
Do I need to manually manage cooldowns or does the HUD handle it?
The HUD automatically tracks all cooldowns with the hourglass icon—you don't need to manage them manually, just watch the display and wait for the icon to disappear before using that attachment again.
Can I equip multiple armor pieces at once or do I have to wear them separately?
You equip all four pieces together as a full suit—hood, chestplate, leggings, and boots all work as one integrated system that shares power and displays status on a single HUD.
What happens if my armor runs out of power mid-flight?
If your jetpack loses power while active, you'll fall—make sure to monitor your energy bar on the HUD and land before your power depletes, or use fall-protection attachments like cushioned boots to reduce damage.
Are there any performance issues if I install too many attachments?
Each attachment adds processing overhead, so extremely heavy configurations might impact performance on lower-end systems. Start with essential attachments and add more as needed, monitoring your frame rate.
