Power Ranks Plugin FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I set up Power Ranks for the first time?
Place a sign and write [PowerRanks] on the first line, then choose an action like gui on the second line to open the setup interface. You can also use the web editor tool included with the plugin to configure ranks before using signs in-game.
What's the difference between promote and set?
Promote moves a player up one rank in your ranking system, while set puts them directly into a specific rank you name on the sign's third line, regardless of where they were before.
Can I change the colors of rank names and chat messages?
Yes, the plugin lets you customize the color of player names and their chat messages for each rank you create or modify through the web editor or in-game configuration.
Do I need to restart my server after changing ranks?
No, Power Ranks applies all changes instantly without requiring a server restart, so players will see updated titles and colors right away.
How many ranks can I create?
You can create unlimited custom ranks—the plugin starts with Member, Moderator, Admin, and Owner, but you're free to add as many as you want or delete the defaults.
What does the check action do?
Writing check on a sign's second line lets you look up what rank a specific player currently has.
Can I use Power Ranks with other chat plugins?
Power Ranks is designed to work with most server setups, but conflicts can occur if another plugin also modifies player names or chat colors—test compatibility on a test server first if you're unsure.
What's the rankup action for?
The rankup action on a sign automatically promotes a player to the next rank in your system, useful for creating self-service rank-up stations.
Do rank prefixes show in all chat messages?
Yes, once you assign a rank to a player, their prefix appears next to their name in chat so everyone can see their role.
How do I know if there's an update available?
Power Ranks checks for updates automatically in the background, so you'll be notified when a new version is available to keep your server current.
