How to Tell Which Potions Are Upgraded (Redstone vs Glowstone) at a Glance
One of the mod's most useful features is that it highlights upgraded potions so you can distinguish a plain potion from an extended or amplified one without opening your inventory. This matters mid-fight, when grabbing the wrong bottle wastes a turn.
What the Highlight Means
In vanilla brewing, redstone extends a potion's duration and glowstone increases its potency. The Potion Counter Mod visually marks potions that carry these enhancements, so the counter reflects not just how many potions you hold but which variants they are. A stack of plain Healing and a stack of amplified Healing will not read identically on the overlay.
Reading the Counter in Combat
1. Brew your potions as normal and place them in your inventory or hotbar.
2. Watch the overlay: enhanced variants appear with the mod's highlight treatment, letting you pick the stronger or longer-lasting bottle first.
3. Keep your most important upgraded potions in hotbar slots and let the counter track the reserve sitting in your main inventory.
4. Before a fight, glance at the counter to confirm you still have upgraded stock rather than only base potions.
This lets you decide whether to drink your amplified potion now or save it, purely from the on-screen readout.
