Using Trueshot, Klutz, Reach, and Step Up for Combat and Movement

Ranged Combat

Trueshot increases projectile damage, functioning like Strength but for arrows, thrown items, and similar projectiles. Klutz does the opposite, reducing projectile damage. Use Trueshot on yourself before a bow fight or on a skeleton to make it deadlier; use Klutz on an enemy archer to blunt its output. Because these mirror melee Strength and Weakness, the same level-scaling logic applies.

Reach and Step Up

Reach extends how far you can interact with blocks and entities, which helps with building, mining at a distance, and hitting mobs from safer range. Step Up raises your step height so you can walk up a full block without jumping, smoothing out terrain and letting you move through one-block elevation changes without breaking stride.

Putting It Together

  • Before a ranged engagement, apply Trueshot to yourself and Klutz to the opposing archers.
  • Use Reach while building or bridging so you place blocks without leaning over edges.
  • Use Step Up when traversing rough terrain, stairs made of full blocks, or when chasing a target over uneven ground.
  • Remember that Weight is the inverse of Step Up: it lowers jump height so you cannot clear a full block. Avoid it on yourself if mobility matters, and consider it as a debuff for enemies you want to slow down.
