Potion Core FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I actually get Potion Core effects in survival?
Potion Core itself only exposes its effects through the creative menu, so in survival you need a companion mod like Not Enough Potions that adds brewing recipes and mechanics for them. Install that alongside Potion Core and brew the effects normally.
Why can't I jump up a full block with the Weight effect?
Weight is a negative jump boost, so it deliberately lowers your jump height below a full block. Use Step Up alongside it if you still want to walk up single blocks without jumping.
What's the difference between Slowfall level 1 and level 2?
Level 1 slows your fall and prevents some fall damage, while level 2 prevents all fall damage. Stack the effect level if you want full protection.
Does Levitation work like the vanilla 1.9 potion?
Yes, Levitation forces you upward similarly to the vanilla effect. Combine it with Slowfall if you want to descend under control afterward.
How does Trueshot compare to Strength?
Trueshot increases projectile damage the same way Strength increases melee damage, so it applies to arrows and other ranged attacks. Klutz is its opposite and reduces projectile damage.
How does Recoil actually reflect damage?
Recoil reflects a portion of damage you take back to the attacker. Pair it with Vulnerability if you want to trade taking more damage for punishing whoever hits you.
What does Vulnerability do to me?
Vulnerability increases all damage you take, functioning as the inverse of Resistance. It's usually something you inflict on enemies or accept as a tradeoff in a Recoil build.
How does Drowning work?
Drowning makes it so you can only breathe underwater, meaning you suffocate in air. It's mainly used as a debuff on other players or mobs rather than on yourself.
What does Reach do and how do I use it?
Reach extends how far you can interact with blocks and entities, which helps with combat and building. Combine it with Step Up and Trueshot for a mobility-and-range combat setup.
Can I use Potion Core effects on mobs or other players?
Yes, the effects are standard potion effects, so anything that applies potions (splash potions, tipped arrows, commands) can apply them to mobs and players. This is how you'd use debuffs like Klutz, Vulnerability, Weight, or Drowning offensively.
