Using Slowfall and Levitation to Control Vertical Movement

Slowfall

Slowfall reduces how fast you fall and softens fall damage. At the first level it slows your descent and prevents some fall damage; at the second level it prevents all fall damage. This makes it useful for long drops, ravine exploration, and building tall structures where you would otherwise need water buckets or hay bales.

To use it well:

  • Apply the effect before you jump, not after, so the slow descent is active the whole way down.
  • At level one, still avoid the very longest drops, since some damage gets through.
  • At level two, you can drop from any height safely, which turns cliffs and cave ceilings into valid travel routes.

Levitation

Levitation pushes you upward continuously, similar to the vanilla effect of the same name. It is not a gentle hover; you keep rising while it is active. Use it to reach high ledges, escape pits, or cross gaps where a jump would not clear the distance.

Combine the two carefully: Levitation will fight Slowfall if both are active, since one pushes up and the other slows descent. For controlled vertical travel, apply Levitation to gain height, then let it expire and rely on Slowfall for the trip down. Always keep an eye on your remaining duration so you are not caught mid-air when the effect ends.
