How to Get Potion Core Effects Without the Creative Menu
The Core Problem
Potion Core itself does not add brewing recipes, loot tables, or mob drops for its effects. Every effect in the mod is registered as a potion type, but the mod ships no survival-obtainable source for them. If you are playing a normal survival world with only Potion Core installed, the effects exist but nothing in the game hands them to you.
What You Can Actually Do
- Install a companion mod. The mod's own description points players toward Not Enough Potions, which adds brewing recipes and new brewing mechanics that produce Potion Core effects. This is the intended survival path.
- Use commands. If cheats are enabled,
/effect giveaccepts Potion Core effect IDs directly, so you can apply any effect to yourself or another player for testing or for a custom map. - Use a command block or datapack. On a server you control, you can wire effects into adventure maps, minigames, or reward systems by running the same effect command from a command block or a function file.
Practical Notes
Effects applied by command behave exactly like brewed ones, including level scaling. Duration and amplifier are set by the command arguments, so you can tune them per situation. If you want the effects to feel earned in survival, the companion mod route is the only one that fits, since Potion Core alone gives you no ingredients to work with.
