Polymorph Mod FAQ

20 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I use Polymorph to pick a different crafting result?
Open the crafting table and place your ingredients as usual. If more than one recipe matches, a button appears above the output slot — click it to see all possible results and pick the one you want.
Why isn't the Polymorph button showing up on my crafting table?
The button only appears when two or more recipes share the exact same ingredients. If only one recipe matches what you've placed, there's nothing to choose between and no button is shown.
Does Polymorph remember which recipe I picked?
Yes. Once you select a result, Polymorph remembers that choice for that recipe and keeps using it for repeated crafting, so you don't have to reselect every time.
How do I change the recipe Polymorph picked for me?
Click the button above the output slot again and choose a different result. Your new selection replaces the old one and becomes the remembered default.
Does Polymorph work with furnaces and other smelting blocks?
Yes. Smelting, blasting, smoking, and campfire cooking all get the same selection button when multiple outputs share the same input, and your choice is saved to that specific block.
Will my smelting choice reset when I reload the world?
No. The selection you make on a furnace, blast furnace, smoker, or campfire persists on that block across world reloads, so it stays set until you change it.
Polymorph keeps remembering the wrong recipe — how do I fix it?
Click the button above the output slot and reselect the result you actually want. The mod overwrites the stored preference with your new pick, so the wrong one won't come back.
Can I still craft the other variants after picking one?
Yes. Selecting a result doesn't remove the other recipes — the button is always there, so you can switch to any of the matching outputs whenever you want.
Does Polymorph work on servers and with other mods?
It's designed to work alongside mods that add duplicate recipes, and it functions on multiplayer servers when installed on both sides as required. If a recipe conflict isn't detected, check that the recipes truly use identical ingredients.
Does Polymorph hurt performance or cause lag?
No. It only checks for matching recipes when a crafting or smelting interface is open, so it has negligible impact on normal gameplay.
How do I use Polymorph Mod?
Craft or smelt something as usual and look for the small button above the output slot. Click it to see every possible result for that recipe, then pick the one you want.
Polymorph Mod button not showing up
The button only appears when two or more recipes actually share the same ingredients, so a normal recipe with one result won't show it. If it's still missing on a real conflict, check that the conflicting mods are loaded and that you're looking at the output slot, not the input.
How to use Polymorph Mod Minecraft?
Open the crafting table, furnace, smoker, blast furnace or campfire and place your ingredients. When a conflict exists, click the selector button above the output and choose your result; the mod then remembers that choice for that block.
Does Polymorph Mod remember my recipe choice?
Yes. Once you pick an output, Polymorph saves that selection to the block, so it persists across world reloads and repeated crafting. You only need to reselect if you want a different result.
Polymorph Mod not working with jei
Polymorph and JEI generally coexist fine, but JEI's recipe transfer can sometimes pick a different output than the one you selected. If that happens, click the Polymorph button after the transfer to correct the result.
Is Polymorph Mod client side or server side?
It needs to be installed on both the client and the server, since recipe selection is synced and saved per block. Installing it only on the client won't resolve conflicts on a multiplayer server.
Polymorph Mod Minecraft alternative
Alternatives exist that solve duplicate recipes in different ways, but Polymorph's approach is the in-game selector button rather than editing recipe files. If you want to keep recipes untouched, Polymorph is the usual pick.
How to resolve smelting conflicts with polymorph?
Put your item in the furnace, blast furnace, smoker or campfire and click the button above the output slot to choose among the possible smelt results. Your choice is stored in that block and stays after you reload the world.
Polymorph Mod not working with automation
Automation like hoppers and pipes can't click the selector button, so they'll use whatever output is currently saved in the block. Set your preferred result manually first, and the machine will keep producing that item.
Does Polymorph Mod cause lag or performance issues?
It's lightweight and only activates when a recipe conflict exists, so it shouldn't noticeably affect performance. If you see issues, they're more likely from the conflicting mods themselves than from Polymorph.
