Polydex Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I open the recipe viewer?
Press the default keybind (usually R) to open the recipe GUI, or configure a custom key in your controls settings. The GUI displays in a chest-style interface showing crafting recipes for the item you're viewing.
Why aren't tooltips showing up when I hover over blocks?
Check that tooltips are enabled with /polydex tooltip enable, and verify your tooltip style preference with /polydex style. If you're on a Polymer server, make sure the server has Polydex data available for those blocks.
Can I use Polydex with JEI or EMI at the same time?
Yes—Polydex is designed to work alongside other recipe mods through Polydex Bridge. Both mods can run simultaneously without conflicts, though you may want to configure which one you prefer for different situations.
Does Polydex work on vanilla servers?
Polydex works best on Polymer or PolyMC servers that support client-side mods. On pure vanilla servers, you'll only see tooltips and recipes for vanilla content that Polydex has data for.
How do I change the tooltip display from bossbar to sidebar?
Use /polydex style sidebar or /polydex style bossbar to switch between display modes. Your preference will be saved for future sessions.
Can I hide tooltips for specific block types?
Yes—use /polydex commands to configure visibility settings for different categories. You can disable tooltips entirely or customize which types of information appear.
Is Polydex heavy on performance?
Polydex is a lightweight client-side mod designed to avoid the performance impact of full modpacks. It only loads recipe data when needed and doesn't require server-side installation on vanilla-compatible servers.
How do I see recipes for modded items on a Polymer server?
The server must have Polydex data configured for those modded items. Contact your server admin to ensure recipe data is available; Polydex can only display what the server provides.
What's the difference between Polydex Bridge and regular Polydex?
Polydex Bridge is a compatibility layer that lets Polydex share data with other recipe mods like JEI and EMI. It's optional but recommended if you use multiple recipe viewers.
Can mod developers add Polydex support to their mods?
Yes—Polydex includes a public API that other mods can use to integrate their data. Check the integration guide to add Polydex support to your mod.
