How to Stop PolyBlur From Causing Lag or Compatibility Problems
Reducing Performance Impact
A Gaussian blur shader runs every time a GUI is open, so on lower-end systems it can cost frames. If you notice stutter when opening your inventory, chests, or other menus, open the OneConfig menu and lower the PolyBlur blur strength. A weaker blur is cheaper to render. If performance is still poor, disable the blur feature entirely from the same menu — the mod will stop applying the shader and your GUIs will render normally. Keeping other shader-heavy mods to a minimum also helps, since blur effects stack in cost.
Resolving Visual Glitches
If the blur looks wrong after resizing your window or changing resolution, the framebuffer likely did not update. Toggle fullscreen or adjust your GUI scale to force it to rebuild. If blur appears stuck after switching between first-person and
third-person, cycle your perspective key to trigger the mod's automatic blur reset. On macOS, older builds had compatibility issues; if blur fails to appear there, confirm you are on a build that includes the macOS compatibility fix and that your graphics drivers are current.
Checking for Conflicts
If blur never appears or the game crashes when opening a GUI, another mod may be conflicting with PolyBlur's rendering. Temporarily remove other GUI or shader mods and test. Because PolyBlur uses Mixin, conflicts with mods that alter the same GUI rendering code are possible; isolating them one at a time will reveal the culprit.
