How to Fix PolyBlur Not Blurring GUI Backgrounds

Confirm the Mod Is Active

If GUI backgrounds look sharp instead of blurred, first verify PolyBlur is actually loaded. Check your mods list in-game and confirm it appears without errors. A missing or failed shader load is the most common cause of no blur. If you recently changed graphics settings, some options can interfere with shader-based effects, so try resetting your video settings to defaults and reopening a GUI to test.

Check the Shader and Strength Settings

Open the OneConfig menu and find the PolyBlur section. Ensure the blur feature is toggled on and that the blur strength slider is not set to its minimum. A strength of zero effectively disables the visual effect even when the feature is enabled. If you have motion blur enabled separately, remember that motion blur only affects camera movement, not static GUI backgrounds — so a working motion blur does not guarantee the GUI blur is on.

Resolution and Perspective Issues

PolyBlur's framebuffer needs to update when your resolution changes. If you resized your window, switched to fullscreen, or changed your GUI scale, the blur may fail to refresh. Toggle fullscreen off and on, or change your GUI scale in video settings, to force the framebuffer to rebuild. Similarly, switching between first-person and third-person view can leave blur in a stale state; the mod resets blur on perspective change, but if it looks wrong, cycle your perspective key once to trigger the reset.
