Send Chat Messages Without Closing Your Inventory

Quick Messaging While Sorting

The chat widget lets you stay in conversation with other players while managing your items, crafting, or organizing storage.

Steps

1. Open your inventory screen by pressing your designated inventory key

2. Press Tab to focus the chat text box — the cursor should appear in the input field

3. Type your message normally, just as you would in the main chat

4. Press Enter to send your message to the server chat

5. Your message will appear in the chat log without closing your inventory

6. Continue sorting, crafting, or organizing while staying connected to conversation

Tips

• If Tab doesn't focus the widget, check that Enable InvChat is turned on in your configuration
• You can send multiple messages in succession without reopening your inventory
• The widget works the same way whether you're browsing your own inventory or a chest/container
• If you need to use Tab for something else (like autocomplete in another mod), rebind the focus key in your settings
