Player’s Head Drop Plugin FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on head drops for my server?
Head drops are enabled by default when you install the plugin. If they're not working, check your settings file to make sure the drop chance is set above 0% and that your current world isn't blacklisted. Reload the plugin with /head reload after making changes.
Can I make heads drop only in certain worlds?
Yes. Use the world blacklist in your settings file to disable head drops in specific worlds like creative mode or peaceful zones. Any world not listed will allow drops, or you can whitelist specific worlds depending on your config setup.
What happens if a player dies to mobs instead of PvP?
By default, heads only drop during player-versus-player combat. You can change this in settings to enable drops for all death types, including PvE accidents and environmental damage like fall damage or fire.
How do I stop players from farming heads off the same person?
Set a drop limit per player in your settings file—this caps how many heads one player can drop in a time period. Once they hit the limit, their heads won't drop again until the cooldown resets.
Can invisible players drop heads?
No. The plugin automatically prevents head drops when the defeated player is using an invisibility potion or effect, so invisible players stay hidden even in death.
Do custom head names and lore stay on the head after I place it?
Yes. The plugin preserves all custom names, dates, killer info, and lore even after you place, mine, or explode the head block. The trophy data survives as long as the head item exists.
How do I see who has lost the most heads on my server?
Type /head stats in chat to open the interactive statistics menu, which shows drop leaderboards, total unique players defeated, and individual player skins. You can browse multiple pages to compare stats.
Can I give a player head to someone without them dying?
Yes. Use the command /head give to place any specific player head directly into someone's inventory as a trophy or gift.
Why can't I rename a head in an anvil?
The plugin blocks head renaming in anvils to keep trophy heads authentic and prevent players from hiding who actually defeated them. This protects the integrity of your leaderboards.
What particle effects and sounds play when a head drops?
The plugin plays a harmless lightning strike, a custom sound, and one of 7 different particle patterns when a head drops. The dropped head also glows in one of 16 colors so it's easy to spot on the ground.
