Players Drop Heads Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I make players drop their heads?
Install the mod and it works out of the box — every player death drops a head by default. If heads aren't dropping, check that the drop chance config values haven't been set to zero.
Where is the config file for this mod?
It's a standard Forge/Fabric config file located in your instance's config folder, named after the mod. You can edit the drop chance values there or through the in-game config screen if the mod provides one.
What are the three death categories for head drops?
The mod separates drop chances into PvP kills, charged creeper kills, and all other deaths. Each category has its own independent chance value, so you can make heads drop only from PvP, only from charged creepers, or any combination.
How do I make heads drop only from PvP kills?
Set the PvP kill chance to its maximum and set the charged creeper and 'all other' chances to zero. That way only player-versus-player kills produce a head.
What does a drop chance of 1.0 mean?
A value of 1.0 means the head drops every single time with no randomness. Lower values make it a probability, so a smaller number means the head only sometimes drops.
Can I get a player head without killing the player?
Not through this mod's death-drop mechanic — it only triggers on player death. For heads without killing anyone, you'd need a separate method like a vanilla-style command or another mod.
Do charged creeper kills give a special head?
Charged creeper kills are their own configurable category, so you can treat them differently from normal deaths. By default they behave the same as other deaths, but you can set their chance independently.
Why aren't player heads dropping even though the mod is installed?
The most common cause is a config value set to zero, or the config being reset/overwritten by a server sync. Check all three category chances and make sure the mod is loaded on both client and server if playing multiplayer.
Does this mod work on servers?
Yes, but the config must be set on the server side for the drops to apply to everyone. If only the client has it, other players' deaths won't produce heads.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
No — it only runs a small check when a player dies, so the performance impact is negligible. It won't affect normal gameplay or server tick rates.
