PlayerAbilityLib Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Do I need to do anything to use PlayerAbilityLib or does it just work?
PlayerAbilityLib works automatically once installed—you don't need to configure it. It runs in the background to manage ability conflicts between mods, so other mods that depend on it will function without clashing.
Why does my flight mod stop working when I use a command to fly?
Without PlayerAbilityLib, mods can overwrite each other's flight settings in the PlayerAbilities class. This library prevents that by tracking which mod enabled flight, so commands and mods won't interfere with each other.
What's the difference between this and just updating my mods?
Updating mods may fix individual issues, but doesn't solve the root problem: multiple mods modifying the same ability fields simultaneously. PlayerAbilityLib centralizes all ability changes so conflicts don't happen in the first place.
Can I use PlayerAbilityLib with mods that give me special abilities?
Yes—any mod that modifies player abilities (flight, no-clip, invulnerability, etc.) will work better with PlayerAbilityLib installed, as it prevents those mods from conflicting with each other or with vanilla commands.
Does PlayerAbilityLib work on servers or only singleplayer?
PlayerAbilityLib is a serverside library, so it works on multiplayer servers. All players benefit from conflict resolution without needing to install it client-side.
Why am I sinking through the ground in spectator mode?
This usually happens when multiple mods modify spectator abilities at once without coordination. Installing PlayerAbilityLib ensures only one mod controls spectator behavior at a time, preventing clipping issues.
If I have two flight mods, which one will work?
PlayerAbilityLib doesn't choose between mods—it tracks which mod enabled flight most recently and respects that. If both mods try to control flight simultaneously, the library prevents conflicts but doesn't arbitrate priority.
Will PlayerAbilityLib slow down my server?
No—PlayerAbilityLib is designed to be lightweight and adds minimal overhead. It only manages ability state, not gameplay mechanics, so performance impact is negligible.
What should I do if abilities still conflict after installing PlayerAbilityLib?
Check that all your mods are up-to-date and actually support PlayerAbilityLib (mod descriptions usually mention this). If conflicts persist, check the mod logs for errors and report the issue to the mod developers.
Can I disable PlayerAbilityLib if I don't need it?
You can remove it, but it's recommended to keep it installed if you use multiple ability-modifying mods, as it prevents future conflicts without any configuration needed.
