Customize the Disconnect Message Players See

Edit Your Disconnect Message

When a player dies and gets kicked, they see a custom message. You can personalize this to fit your server's theme or rules.

1. Navigate to .minecraft/config and open the Player Death Kick Mod configuration file.

2. Find the disconnectMessage setting (default: "You died by %death%! You have been disconnected from the server.").

3. Replace the text with your custom message. You can include:

  • %death% — automatically replaced with the death cause (e.g., "fall damage", "lava", "player kill")
  • Plain text — any message you want, like "Better luck next time!" or "See you in the next round!"

4. Example messages:

  • "You fell to %death%. Goodbye!"
  • "Eliminated by %death%. Thanks for playing!"

5. Save the file and restart your server for changes to take effect.

Disable Death Cause Display

If you don't want death causes shown, set addDeathCauseToMessage to false. The %death% placeholder will be removed from messages.
